Director of Music – Brighstone
We enjoy an active and diverse musical life in the churches. At St Mary’s, Brighstone we have a Director of Music who coordinates the Music and plays the piano/organ for most services. We also have a thriving music group featuring guitars, brass, woodwind and strings. Our musicians and singers get toegther to practise and share in fellowship together on a Friday evening once a month: all are welcome.
Both St Mary’s, Brighstone and St Peter’s, Shorwell have a choir who sing on a regular basis. A Children’s Choir at Brighstone Primary School has been set up.
Music, both contemporary and traditional, plays a very important role in our worship across the five churches. We strive to meet the needs and preferences of our local community and individual congregations by listening and offering a variety of services from traditional sung BCP Evensong to the more informal and contemporary SOLACE (7pm on the 4th Sunday of every month at St. Mary’s, Brighstone).
