St Andrew’s Church

St Andrew’s, Chale celebrates its 900th anniversary this year, 2014.   There are many special events taking place throughout this year and we would welcome support from everyone.  There are special services, guided tours of the church, opportunities to get involved with craft projects, concerts, discussion groups and talks, something for everyone!  The programme of events can be seen by clicking on this link, St Andrew’s 900th Anniversary Year Programme of Events.

Enjoy some of the photos from the events in the 900th anniversary year so far….

Below are photos of the Patronal Festival Evensong which took place on the 30th November 2013 starting the 900th celebrations.  The Archdeacon, The Venerable Peter Sutton, the Area Dean, The Revd Kath Abbott, and the ministry team of the Brighstone Benefice are pictured, as are members of ‘Cantus Vesperi‘ who sang Evensong.  The candles which were blessed at the special Candlemas service on the 2nd February, along with members of the congregation are shown.  Finally the Slipshod singers from Yarmouth sang at the Lifeboat service on the 6th April.

We have tremendous support for the church in the local community.  The Chale Village Partnership, the Chale Horticultural Society together with the Chale Churchyard Committee, Chale WI and local residents, regularly come together to support the work and life of the church.

There are services weekly at St Andrew’s, to which all are welcome:

  • Week 1 Saturday 5pm Holy Communion :-)
  • Week 2 Sunday 6pm BCP Evensong
  • Week 3 Saturday 5pm Holy Communion :-)
  • Week 4 Sunday 11am Holy Communion
