St Mary’s, Brook

brook

St Mary’s is a traditional and inclusive church, wrestling with the challenges of the 21st century, within the context of timeless worship.

1st Sunday 6pm Evensong BCP

4th Sunday 9.25am Holy Communion

We share a congregation and services with St Peter & St Paul, Mottistone and seek to work with the local community in celebrating significant moments and events in the life of the wider community.  We have an annual service of thanksgiving for the lifeboat, we host the Commemoration of the Departed for the Five Churches group and we have an extraordinary Christingle service each Christmas Eve, together with the more usual carol services and Harvest Festival.  To find out current information about Brook and Mottistone, please click here to read our newsletter for Autumn 2013.

The church has a number of memorials to the lifeboat which was stationed at Brook from 1860 – 1937.

There is also a memorial to those who lost their lives in the flying boat disaster in November 1957, when the Aquila Airways ‘Sydney’ crashed at Shalcombe with the loss of 45 passengers and crew.
