The Spectacular 21st Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival

Free Admission. Viewing in all venues Dec 7th – 10th from 10am to 5pm. (Thereafter in three venues until December 31st).
Those who have been to this special festival already know how fantastic it is, as they return year after year. If you haven’t been before than give yourself a treat and banish those winter blues with the most joyful event imaginable. You will not believe what you see. Come and celebrate our 21st Festival with us. Fun for all the family.
This major Isle of Wight Festival celebrates it’s “coming of age” this year with over 200 beautiful “theme decorated” Christmas Trees on display in seven very different locations. (Brighstone Church, the Methodist Church, The Wilberforce Hall, The Three Bishops Pub, The Reading Rooms, Mottistone Church and the Isle of Wight Pearl). In addition we have the children’s trees in the library and on the Saturday and Sunday a Santa’s Snowy Grotto at the Exchange in New Rd, (halfway between the Parish Church and the Methodist Church).
Free Admission to all concerts both during the festival and even into the following week (all in the Parish Church set against the backdrop of all the trees). There will be a myriad of attractions to entertain you and put you in the festive mood and it’s all FREE. Carol singing, Handbell ringing, Craft Fairs, Mini Market at the weekend, Lace making demonstrations, Cake and Biscuit Raffles, An opportunity on the Sunday to meet Santa in the Snow Grotto, Daily Refreshments available to purchase, Soup lunches available on the Saturday and a Hog Roast on the Sunday. Free glass of Mulled Wine (while stocks last) in the Reading Rooms and Social Club.
A Free Park and Ride will operate from the Isle of Wight Pearl and Brighstone Holiday Centre on the Military Rd into Brighstone village with a further Free shuttle service to Mottistone and back. Please see full programme for further details.
This year we especially welcome the return of the “Nativity Pageant”.
Performed every two years with a cast drawn from local residents. Follow the action starting in Upper Lane/Woodside Rd junction and relive the moment of the very first Christmas – performed through the village – in the open air, the biblical story retold.
For the children there is a competition for the best decorated mini Christmas tree. The trees can be purchased after Nov 4th (cost just £2.50) from the Brighstone Community Library in North St. Tel: 740446 (open Tues 9.30-12.30; Thurs 1.30-4.00 and Sat 10.00–4.00). Return the tree to the library by Tuesday Dec 6th to be judged during the festival. Prizes for the winners, NB. The Library will be open every day from 7th -10thDec.
Admission Free. All donations / proceeds from refreshments, concerts etc, to local and national charities. To date nearly £110,000 for local and national charities has been raised.
Why not get in the Christmas spirit with the special “Lights of Love “ carol service at 7.00 pm on Wednesday, Dec 7th at Brighstone Church.. Tree lighting by Nigel Hartley, CEO Earl Mountbatten Hospice also attended by Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox (Chairman of the IoW Council) and other council members. ALL WELCOME.
Don’t forget that the trees in three locations will be on show until Jan 2nd . With over 50 trees on display in Brighstone Church alone the background effect to the carol service and concerts is truly magical. Refreshments on offer.
